Michael Broad has been President of the Shipping Federation of Canada since January 1, 2004. Prior to assuming his position at the Federation, he was President of B & K Shipping Agency Ltd., a ship agency with offices in Toronto & Montreal. He was also a member of the Federation’s Board of Directors from 1987 to 2003 and served as Chairman of the Board from 1997-1998.
Mr. Broad is currently the Industry Co-Chair of the National Marine Advisory Board and is a board member of several community organizations, including Mariners House of Montreal. Mr. Broad holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Loyola of Montreal and a MBA from the University of Western Ontario.
Incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1903, the Shipping Federation of Canada acts as the pre-eminent voice of shipowners, operators and agents involved in Canada’s world trade. Its main areas of activity are advocacy, education, information and operations, all of which are provided to members in the interests of achieving a safe, efficient, competitive, environmentally responsible and quality-oriented marine transportation system.
