Ms. Cầm Thị Mòn, a visionary leader from Mường Chanh Commune, Sơn La Province, Việt Nam. Recognizing the challenges faced by coffee farmers due to declining yields from traditional methods, Mon was determined to find a unique taste for her homeland's specialty coffee, even when others considered quitting.
Her journey culminated in the founding of Ara-Tay Coffee Cooperative together with 13 other members in the village, the region's first women-led specialty coffee cooperative. The name "Ara-Tay" signifies Arabica coffee nurtured by the dedicated hands of Thai ethnic. As its director, Mon has significantly boosted incomes and empowered other women, proving her dedication to sustainable and impactful coffee production.
Her dedication to sustainable agriculture and community resilience has earned her a place on national and international platforms. She actively shares her experiences in forums advocating for climate-smart coffee production, women’s leadership, and inclusive economic development.
