Ajaya R. Shrestha, Ph.D., is the Chemistry Group Lead at Luxna Biotech. He leads the development of next-generation oligonucleotide therapeutics utilizing Luxna’s proprietary XNA monomer platform, with a focus on achieving enhanced potency and tolerability for neurological and other therapeutic applications. He has over 15 years of experience in nucleic acid chemistry across academic and industrial settings. His career includes postdoctoral research at Osaka University under Prof. Satoshi Obika, where he contributed to AmNA and GuNA technologies, and a faculty position at Hokkaido University working on antibody-oligonucleotide conjugates. Before joining Luxna, he was a Senior Researcher at Rena Therapeutics, contributing to the development of HDO technology for extrahepatic ASO delivery. He received his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Okayama University in 2009.
