Profile

Fernando Filgueiras de Araujo is an Attorney for Brazil at the Attorney General’s Office for Brazil (AGU), currently serving as Deputy National Solicitor for International Affairs. He is also the Coordinator of the Foreign Disputes Unit, which is responsible for handling complex transnational legal issues.

Fernando has worked extensively on transnational cases involving corruption, criminal organizations, money laundering, and other illicit activities against the Federative Republic of Brazil. His expertise lies in asset recovery, utilizing mutual legal assistance, international cooperation, and direct litigation in foreign jurisdictions to recover stolen assets on Brazil’s behalf.

In addition to his legal work, Fernando represents the AG's Office in various international conferences and forums, including the FATF, the UNODC, the OECD, MESICIC, BRICS, and the newly created GlobE. He has participated in several panels and conferences throughout the world in asset recovery themes, multiple country assessments, both as an evaluator and as an evaluated country, and has been appointed as the AGU’s point of contact for GlobE. Fernando also serves as a Brazilian expert for UNODC’s UNCAC evaluations.
