Viren Mascarenhas is the founder of Mascarenhas Law PLLC, a U.S.-based disputes boutique focused on U.S. litigation; construction, commercial, and investment arbitration, and asset recovery/enforcement proceedings.
Viren has over two decades of experience representing individuals, family offices, corporations, international organizations, and states/state-owned companies in a wide variety of disputes. He has advised or represented investors in investment arbitration claims against the governments of Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Ecuador, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Nigeria, Peru, the Philippines, the Russian Federation, Timor-Leste, Uruguay, and Venezuela. He has served as counsel in arbitrations proceeding under the rules of the major arbitration institutions, including the AAA/ICDR, HKIAC, ICC, LCIA, SCC, and SIAC, as well as in arbitrations seated in the major arbitral hubs, including California, Geneva, Hong Kong, London, Mumbai, New York, Paris and Singapore.
He is ranked by Chambers Global and USA, Legal 500, Law360, Lawdragon, and has been recognized for his accomplishments by Crain’s New York Business, Latinvex, The Best Lawyers in America, Lexology Index, the South Asian Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the New York Law Journal.
Viren is a Lecturer-in-Law at Columbia Law School where he teaches international arbitration. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He also sits as arbitrator.
