Profile

Michael is highly involved in the commercial real estate industry as an advocate and point of contact for media, education, investment, management, leasing and sales activities. Formerly sitting as an executive director on the Building Owners and Managers Association of Nova Scotia (BOMA) and The Nova Scotia Real Estate Appraisers Association (NSREAA), Michael continues to add value with all engagements.

Experience: During his 18 year real estate career, Michael has lead retail and office development pre-leasing, Tenant Representation for industrial, office and retail leasing, commercial property sales & acquisition of the above genres, and spent many years consulting on investment sales. Michael represents Avison Young’s Corporate Services Division and property management team for assignments in Atlantic Canada. Specializing in commercial real estate has allowed Michael to work with a wide variety of Local, National and International companies. Some notable companies include Intact Insurance, Northview REIT, Ricoh, Tesla, CN National Railway, KPMG, Irving Oil, and Ernst & Young to name a few.

Education: Michael holds a degree in Commerce from the University of New Brunswick and graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Diploma in Urban Land Economics. This program covers a wide variety of industry specific material including Real Property Law, Real Estate Finance, Appraisal, Statistical & Development Analysis and Commercial Structural Analysis which are of significant value to his client.

Interests: Hockey, Fishing, Golf, outdoor activities including camping and hiking, reading (mostly nonfiction), vinyl records & music.

Community: Founder of Fightfornature.com, which has been established to purchase and manage special habitat for the benefit of nature and the world. Michael actively volunteers for the Dartmouth Boys & Girls Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
