Dr. Ahmed Fathi Younis Gelany is an Egyptian geologist and geotechnical consultant specializing in environmental geology, heritage conservation, and geotechnical engineering. Born in Luxor in 1973, he earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Geology from South Valley University (2019) with a dissertation focused on hazard assessment and nanotechnology applications for heritage conservation at Luxor's archaeological sites. He also holds an M.Sc. in Environmental Geology from Al-Azhar University (2015) and a B.Sc. in Geology from South Valley University (1997).
Dr. Gelany currently serves as a Lecturer of Engineering, Environmental and Archaeological Geology at multiple institutions, including the High Institute of Engineering and Technology in Luxor, Zaytoona International University in Syria, and the Aboukir High Institute for Restoration and Art Collections in Alexandria. His research spans geotechnical hazards, building materials deterioration, and innovative conservation techniques particularly the use of natural oils and nanomaterials for protecting submerged and exposed stone monuments.
An active contributor to the scientific community, he has published extensively in international journals, serves as a peer reviewer for numerous publications, and has authored several academic books. He is also deeply engaged in professional development, youth leadership, and international scientific collaboration, with extensive training in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and research management.
