Dr. Amit Kumar is a seasoned bioprocess leader with extensive experience spanning the biopharmaceutical industry, academia, and global manufacturing operations. He currently serves as an independent Senior Bioprocess Advisor, drawing on years of leadership in process development, technology strategy, and commercialization across mRNA, DNA, protein, and biologics platforms.

Most recently, Dr. Kumar was the Global Lead for Process and Technology Engineering at Moderna Therapeutics, where he led cross-functional initiatives to scale and optimize manufacturing for both small and large molecule platforms. Prior to that, he held positions at Amgen and conducted advanced research at MIT, focusing on process modeling, manufacturing innovation, and optimization of commercial technologies for biologics and small molecules.

Dr. Kumar holds a Ph.D. in Bioscience Engineering from Ghent University, with collaborative research across UMass Amherst, TU Delft, and TU Munich. He completed postdoctoral training at MIT and Harvard University. A recipient of over 25 national and international awards — including the prestigious Marie Curie Fellowship — he actively contributes to the field through roles on editorial boards, ISPE Biotechnology Practice Community, and scientific committees.
