Don Jarvis earned his Ph.D. in virology at Baylor College of Medicine in 1986 and moved to Texas A&M University in 1987, where he began studying the baculovirus-insect cell system (BICS). Don was promoted to Assistant Professor in 1989 and tenured Associate Professor in 1995, then moved to the University of Wyoming, where he was promoted to full Professor and will retire as Professor Emeritus in 2024. However, Don will continue to serve as President of GlycoBac, LLC, a company he founded in 2011 to improve the quality of recombinant protein production in the BICS. One key tool developed by GlycoBac is Sf-RVN™, an Sf-rhabdovirus-negative Sf cell line that can be used for improved biologics manufacturing.
