Seema Bhatlekar is a Senior Scientist in the API Gene Therapy department within Therapeutics, Development & Supply (TDS) at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine. She is based in Malvern, PA, USA.
Seema is responsible for leading downstream process development for AAV and HSV-based gene therapy programs. This requires working with CMC, analytical development, drug product, and tech transfer teams. Seema is also responsible for developing viral clearance strategies for AAV gene therapy products.
Seema joined Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine in 2021. Before JNJ, she worked at the University of Utah as a Scientist developing CRISPR therapeutics for cardiovascular diseases.
Seema has a PhD in Molecular Biology and Genetics, an MBA from the University of Delaware, USA, and a Masters (in Microbiology) from the University of Pune, India. Seema loves to travel and enjoys teaching dance to young kids.
