Sowmya Balasubramanian, PhD, is Associate Director of Pre-Pivotal Cell Line Development at Gilead Sciences. With over 16 years of experience in mammalian cell culture and biologics development, she has previously led teams at Genentech and ATUM driving innovation in CHO and HEK293 expression systems. Her expertise spans transposon-based cell line development, process optimization, and mentoring scientific talent. Sowmya holds dual degrees in Biological Sciences and Computer Science from BITS Pilani, India and a PhD from EPFL, Switzerland
