Dr. Ismail Cakmak, is a full Professor of Plant Nutrition at Sabanci University in Istanbul, Turkey and has specialized in plant nutritional physiology. He earned his Ph.D. from the University Hohenheim in Stuttgart, Germany.

He has been named among the “highly cited researchers” in agricultural sciences by Clarivate analytics. He ranked in the top 0.05 % of most influential scientists in all scientific fields, and in the top 10 agronomists in 2021, 2022 and 2023 by a Stanford University study, based on Elsevier’s Scopus Database. Received a total citation of > 50 000 for his publications with a H-Index of 108 (Google Scholar).

Received various prestigious awards including the IFA-International Crop Nutrition Award in 2005, the Australian Crawford Fund “Derek Tribe Award Medal” in 2007, the Germany-Alexander von Humboldt Foundation-Georg Forster Research Award in 2014, International Plant Nutrition Institute-IPNI Science Award in 2016 and the World Academy of Sciences Agricultural Science Prize in 2016. He is co-editor of the Book – “Marschner’s Mineral Nutrition of Plants” (4th edition), and elected member of The Academy of Europe and The Science Academy of Turkey. He made scientific speeches in more than 60 countries.
