Mischa SchwendyWorkflow Development Leader - Viral Vector at CytivaSpeaker
Profile
Mischa is a workflow development leader for viral vector processes at Cytiva, in the genomic medicine department. In his role, he collaborates closely with customers, guiding them to set up and optimize their vector production ensuring they achieve optimal results. As a passionate scientist, he particularly enjoys translating cutting-edge innovations from Cytiva’s R&D department into next-generation production processes in collaboration with pharmaceutical developers.
Even before joining Pall/Cytiva, Mischa was driven by transformative biotechnological solutions, which led him to the field of gene therapy. Using the versatility of Adeno-associated virus (AAV) as gene delivery vehicle, he engineered AAV capsid genes to enhance organ specificity in his postdoctoral work at Heidelberg University.
He holds a doctoral degree from his work at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, where he developed machine-learning algorithms for single-cell analysis in high-throughput microscopy.
Mischa’s scientific roots originate in Mannheim, where he earned a Bachelor and a Master of Science degree in Biological Chemistry and Biotechnology from Mannheim University of Applied Sciences.
