Dr. Shahin Heshmatifar is a Senior Scientist USP FAS at Cytiva, specializing in upstream bioprocessing and cell culture technology. With over 12 years of experience in the biotechnology industry, he has played a key role in process development, technology transfer, and optimization of biologics and cell and gene therapy manufacturing.

Since joining Cytiva in 2019, Shahin has been dedicated to training bioreactor customers, providing scientific consultancy, and ensuring seamless scale-up of bioprocesses into Cytiva bioreactor platforms. His expertise spans monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, and viral vector production in adherent and suspension cell cultures. Prior to Cytiva, he held commercial and sales roles in a major global biotechnology company and served as a Bioprocess Development Scientist and Project Lead in the vaccine manufacturing sector.

Shahin holds a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering from University College London (UCL), where he also contributed as an honorary lecturer in bioprocess enterprise and management consultancy. Passionate about innovation and education, he actively mentors professionals and speaks at industry conferences. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, exploring historical sites, and fishing.
