Verena holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from University of Ulm, Germany. She has about 15 years of professional experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, including positions at Rentschler Biotechnologie, Sartorius, and Boehringer Ingelheim. During her career, she has held various roles in cell line development, upstream development and process transfer for antibody-based products and gene therapy vectors. Currently, at Boehringer Ingelheim, her main responsibility comprises leading an upstream process development lab as well as strategic enhancement of Boehringer´s upstream process platform, including e.g., process intensification and cell culture harvest technologies.
