Joel Genest has been designing and delivering housing programs at CMHC since 2011, specializing primarily in direct lending initiatives. He has significant experience across the program life cycle, including underwriting, funding, and servicing, as well as in implementing new federal housing initiatives. In his current capacity as Director, Financing Solutions, Joel is responsible for the overall delivery of the Rental Construction Financing Initiative (RCFi), one of the flagship initiatives of Canada’s National Housing Strategy. His team is responsible for allocating $25.75 billion in low cost loans to encourage the construction of over 71,000 much needed purpose-built rental apartments across Canada.
