Marie is a former Merchant Navy Officer, qualified both as an Engineer and a Deck Officer, with twenty years of maritime industry experience.

After few years at sea, she specialised in legal and environmental matters and worked for various stakeholders in the industry, such as Class Societies, Training institutes or the International Maritime Organisation. More recently, Marie was the Head of Maritime Affairs for a large Flag Administration in London and Alternative Permanent Representative at the IMO. As such, she contributed actively to negotiations and work related to the GHG Strategy and the global switch to low sulphur fuels.

Currently, Marie is the Director of a consultancy firm, NauticaLex, providing legal services, trainings or writing expertise to key players in the maritime world.
