Dr. Bakouni is a highly experienced Learning and Development Manager within the Simulation Division of Maersk Training, with a versatile professional background in Human Resources, specialized in L&D, specifically within the Maritime industry for over a decade.

She holds a PhD in Organizational Behavior and Leadership from the University of Piraeus, an MSc in Human Resources from Athens University of Economics and Business, and a BA in International and European Relations from the University of Piraeus. Dr. Bakouni's research interests lie in the ethical dimension of leadership and its psychological impact on employees.

Certified as an ISM/ISPS/MLC Auditor and with diplomas in Adult Learning and Maritime Business Strategy, she seamlessly blends her understanding of the shipping business with people management. Additionally, as a certified Career Coach from the University of Aegean, she is dedicated to lifelong learning and continuous development.

Academically, Dr. Bakouni has served as a Senior Lecturer in HR for the University of Essex through Aegean College, and as an Academic Course Director specializing in maritime HR and Crew Management for Lloyd's Maritime Academy.

Committed to giving back, she actively engages as a mentor for organizations such as Women on Top and Job-Pairs, contributing to professional growth and empowerment. Dr. Bakouni is also an HR advisor & mentor for Project Connect, aiming to empower younger generations. As a member of WISTA (Women's International Shipping & Trading Association), she is dedicated to advancing women's roles within the shipping industry.
