Garth Drury is an experienced global regulatory affairs manager based in Lyon, France. He is also a project management trainer, and regular speaker at conferences, having presented papers most recently on biocontrol registration (Spain), natural background exposure to pheromones (ABIM), operator safety (UK and India), on global tolerances (USA) and on anti-counterfeiting (Netherlands) for example.

He is currently Senior Regulatory Affairs Expert in his own consultancy having previously been principal consultant with Staphyt Regulatory, with a specific focus on taskforce management and biopesticides (pheromones and natural substances). This followed service as Scientific Director of GAB Consulting (now Syntech Research), leading both the scientific sections and the regulatory/project management group.

Previously Garth worked as Director of R&D for the EMEA region at Arysta (now UPL), based in the regional HQ in Paris. He also worked for Rotam (now Albaugh) based in both Lyon and Shanghai as Head of Global Regulatory and Government Affairs for over 5 years enhancing the company’s footprint in Europe notably and leading re-organisation of the R&D division. During this time, Garth also served as President and Board Member of the European Crop Care Association, Brussels (ECCA) which represents the Small-Medium Sized Enterprises with the Commission and other EU level institutions.

Before this, Garth worked for Bayer CropScience (and its predecessor companies) - in both crop and non-crop regulatory affairs management. During this time, he participated in various industry working groups, including the Residues WG of BAA (now CropLife UK), the OECD EG working on Emission Scenario Documents under the Biocides Products Directive (98/8/EC) and the Seed TROPEX (Seed Treatment Operator Exposure model) industry taskforce.

An agronomist by training, Garth completed further studies in soil science and agricultural engineering at Silsoe (Cranfield University, UK). He started his career in the agrochemical industry in the field with Schering in 1987 and later moved into regulatory affairs in 1994 with UPL in time for dossier preparation of List 1 compounds under Directive 91/414/EEC.
