With more than three decades of experience in the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) sector, Leendert van der Marel is a recognized expert in regulatory compliance and market access for products and materials in contact with drinking water. As Commercial Director at Kiwa, he leads commercial activities for the Products, Installations & Distribution Division and works closely with industry, regulators and stakeholders across Europe and overseas.

Leendert has played a pioneering role in multiple initiatives related to the European Drinking Water Directive, co-founding several key industry initiatives, including the group of Notified Bodies Drinking Water Europe, Fit4DW.com, and the Kiwa-led EU Drinking Water Directive Consortium. These initiatives help manufacturers address the challenges of substance registration, compliance and market access under evolving European legislation.
