Profile

Maristella Rubbiani has a degree in Biology and a PhD in environmental and industrial toxicology. Policy officer at the European commission, DG SANTE, she is acting as risk manager aimed at the approval of plant protection substances in accordance with current European legislation and the application of related EU policies. Currently in charge of coformulants issue, PFAS, CLP new hazard classes and endocrine disruptors, being part of the specific Working Groups at ECHA and EFSA.

For more than 30 years at the Italian Higher Institute of Health as responsible for the implementation of EU legislation related to authorization of plant protection products and biocides and application of policies of EU related regulations such as Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 (REACH), Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP), Regulation 524/2017 (Poison Centers), Directive 128/2009 (sustainable use) as a risk assessor and risk manager for dangerous substances and products, supporting the National Competent Authority (MoH) on the subjects. Inspector for dangerous preparations and for Good Laboratory Practices.Tutor in non- EU Countries and accessing Countries in several European projects related to chemical legislation. Author of more than 100 scientific publications.
