Evangelos Efstathiou is Managing Director of Skysail Advisors and CEO of Burmester & Vogel (“B&V”). Prior to these roles Evan held executive positions at Marsoft, Veson Nautical, SpecTec and Chinsay.

As CEO of B&V, Evan oversees the product vision and commercialization of the B&V platform – a suite of AI-powered tools to Automate, Verify and Settle Laytime Faster. B&V is trusted by hundreds of dry bulk and tanker commodity traders, charterers and shipowners to calculate laytime and settle demurrage claims. B&V’s Artificial Intelligence and machine learning solutions have been built with several years of experience and over one hundred thousand cargoes worth of data, making the company uniquely suited to automating demurrage, a manually intensive, contract-based workflow in commodity trading and vessel chartering.

As Founder and Managing Director of Skysail Advisors, Evan quickly became known for his expertise in bulk maritime transportation and digital technology. He regularly consults shipowners, commodity traders, industry associations, and private equity investors on digitalization strategy, M&A, and industry digitalization trends. Evan leads Skysail’s joint venture with AMA Capital Partners to provide mergers and acquisitions advisory for maritime technology companies. Evan also publishes the Skysail Maritime Technology Landscape, providing widely followed market intelligence for the maritime, inland barge, port terminal, and Jones Act trades.

Originally from Atlanta, Evan lives in Boston, Massachusetts with his wife and three daughters. He earned a bachelor’s degree in management science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
