James Rhodes

CEO and Co-Founder / Executive Board Member of the at Magnuss Corp/ International Windship Association

Mr. Rhodes is a veteran executive and entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in maritime shipping, renewable energy, investment banking and management consulting. He is CEO and Co-Founder of Magnuss, a maritime tech firm that has developed and patented a wind-based propulsion system called the Magnuss VOSS (or Vertically-variable Ocean Sail System), for which he is the co-inventor. Mr. Rhodes is also an Executive Board Member of the International Windship Association, a joint industry consortium that promotes wind propulsion for commercial shipping and dedicated to the decarbonization of maritime shipping worldwide. Mr. Rhodes is a frequent speaker at industry events and has authored numerous articles on clean shipping tech and environmental finance. Formerly, he was COO of GE/AES GHG Services, a renewable energy development firm and JV between GE and AES. Prior to that, he was Managing Director at Morgan Stanley for twelve years, after a decade at Goldman Sachs and Booz Allen. Mr. Rhodes has an MBA from Columbia University, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Brown University.
