Jamie McNamara is a Claims Executive at the American P&I Club. A USCG licensed Master Mariner, he has 30 years of experience in the maritime industry, both at sea and ashore. Coming ashore in 2001, he spent 10 years working for Atlantic Container Line/Grimaldi Group stowage planning and working both terminal and vessel operations. Mr. McNamara then shifted to work in the dry bulk sector as a vessel operator for 4 years at Eagle Bulk and Genco Shipping and Trading. Mr. McNamara then continued his career by moving into the ship management side of the business for the next 10 years. He worked at both US Shipping Corp and McAllister Towing as a HSQE Manager in the petrochemical and towing industry, respectively, prior to joining the Club. In each of his roles and experiences Mr. McNamara worked with the several P&I Clubs, from the owners perspective, on cargo claims, third party damages, and personal injury matters.

Mr. McNamara graduated from SUNY Maritime with a Bachelors in Oceanography and Meteorology with an Environmental Science Concentration in 1994 and a Master’s in International Transportation Management in 2002. He is on the Standing Committee of the Marine Society of the City of New York, a member of ABS and the National Cargo Bureau.
