Jonathan R. ChiaSenior Vice President at MTI NetworkSpeaker
Profile
Jonathan Chia operates at the intersection of maritime operational strategy, corporate decision-making, and crisis response—domains united by complexity, urgency, and high-consequence outcomes.
He serves as Senior Vice President of MTI Network USA, the maritime industry’s global leader in crisis management and incident communications, where he leads response efforts across the Americas. Since joining MTI in 2019, Jonathan has guided shipowners and operators through some of the most complex and visible maritime incidents in recent history, including the largest vessel capsizing recovery ever conducted in the United States. His work spans on-scene coordination with the U.S. Coast Guard and state authorities, executive advisory during live incidents, and board-level counsel on operational, reputational, and regulatory risk.
Beyond incident response, Jonathan’s work increasingly focuses on operational and corporate strategy—helping maritime organizations align leadership, governance, and decision-making processes before, during, and after high-stress events. He advises senior teams on preparedness, organizational resilience, stakeholder alignment, and how operational realities intersect with corporate objectives and public trust.
Prior to MTI, Jonathan spent more than a decade advising global corporations on corporate actions, innovation risk, and high-stakes communications. His experience spans product launches, ESG scrutiny, restructuring, and reputational challenges. His client roster has included GE, Google, Microsoft, IBM, News Corp, YouTube, and other Fortune 500 companies.
Across crisis response and strategic advisory, Jonathan’s approach is consistent: act decisively, communicate clearly, and build organizations that perform under pressure.
