The Reverend Mark Nestlehutt is President & Executive Director of the Seamen’s Church Institute (SCI). Founded in lower Manhattan in 1834 as a mission of the Episcopal Church (Anglican Communion), SCI is the largest mariner service agency in North America and focuses on seafarer wellbeing, crisis response, and pastoral care through vessel visiting, counseling, transportation and hospitality; mariner continuing education and professional training through its Center for Maritime Education; and mariner advocacy and seafarer rights through its Center for Mariner Advocacy (formerly the Center for Seafarer’s Rights). Mark has more than two decades of parish, school, and diocesan experience in the United States, Australia, South Africa, and Greece. Prior to ordination, he worked in finance and banking, and served as a line officer in the U.S. Navy. Mark is a trustee of the National Waterways Foundation, Inc., president of the Life Saving Benevolent Association, 1847 (LSBA), and vice-chair of the Charity Trustees of the International Christian Maritime Association (ICMA).
