Matthew Bonvento is a professional mariner with 25 years of experience in the maritime industry. After his career at sea, Matt moved on to working in regulatory compliance and safety management at the Vanuatu registry. This experience helped to shape his mindset for educating mariners, which he does today at the US Merchant Marine Academy. In addition to his teaching duties Mr. Bonvento is the author of From the Galley: Stories and Recipes from American Mariners as well as the American Merchant Seaman's Manual 8th edition. He is also the co-author of Maritime Firefighting. Matthew has been working with REGENT for the last several years to develop the training program for the next generation of mariners who will operate the REGENT Seagliders.
