Mike Kass is a distinguished engineer in the Fuel Science & Engine Technologies Research Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He has over 25 years of experience in the fields of dynamometer-based engine testing, combustion/emissions research, engine materials and alternative fuels. For the past 12 years Mr. Kass has been leading marine propulsion studies for the U. S. Department of Energy, which have been focused on the integration of alternative fuels in the marine shipping sector. Mr. Kass has taught courses for SAE International on fuel impacts and compatibility and is also working on challenges related to shipping in Arctic waters.
He holds a PhD in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Tennessee and is a Fellow of SAE International.
