Profile

Mike Kass is a researcher in the Fuel Science and Engine Technologies Research Group. He has over 20 years of experience in transportation energy, dynamometer-based engine testing, combustion/emissions research, engine materials and alternative fuels. Currently responsibilities include leading polymer-fuel compatibility efforts, maritime transportation, and UAS propulsion. In addition to his primary research thrusts, his research interests and experience include energetic materials and signal analysis, environmental acoustics, and materials processing.

Mike holds a BS in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Nebraska, an MS in Ceramic Engineering from Clemson University and a PhD in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Tennessee. He holds committee memberships with SAE International and periodically participates in organizing and leading topical sessions for AUVSI. Mr. Kass has over 90 publications, 3 patents, and 2 book chapters. He is a fellow of SAE International.
