Rene Powell is Head of Business Development, North America at Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore, with over 18 years of experience in the maritime industry. He thrives working alongside ship owners, managers and other stakeholders to design, build, and operate safe and sustainable assets. Before Bureau Veritas, he focused on commercial vessel design and retrofitting. He also designed and led marine operations, transporting and installing various types of energy assets. He earned an MBA from Rice University, an MS in Ocean Engineering from Virginia Tech, and a BS in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering from the University of New Orleans. He is a native Panamanian whose career path was heavily influenced by growing up in the Panama Canal zone.
