Mark Nestlehutt serves as the President and Executive Director of the Seamen’s Church Institute (SCI), the largest and most comprehensive mariner service agency in North America. Founded in 1834 as a mission of the Episcopal Church, SCI provides vital services to seafarers, including crisis response, pastoral care, vessel visiting, counseling, transportation, and hospitality. The organization also supports mariner education and professional development through its Center for Maritime Education and advocates for seafarer rights through its Center for Mariner Advocacy (formerly the Center for Seafarer’s Rights). And ordained Episcopal priest with over 20 years of experience in parish, school, and diocesan leadership across the United States, Australia, South Africa, and Greece, Mark brings a diverse and global perspective to his work. Before ordination, he held roles in finance and banking and served as a line officer in the U.S. Navy. In addition to his role at SCI, Mark is the Chair of the Charity Trustees of the International Christian Maritime Association (ICMA), a trustee of the National Waterways Foundation, Inc., and President of the Life Saving Benevolent Association, 1847 (LSBA).
