Profile
Stergios Stamopoulos is an experienced professional in the maritime industry with an in-depth knowledge relating to ship structures, statutory requirements, human factors, and energy efficiency of ships.
He joined ABS in 2007 as an engineer, and has worked in Greece, South Korea, and the USA on a variety of different roles including engineering approval, human factors, and sustainability.
He was recently promoted to Manager of the ABS Houston Sustainability Center leading the efforts in the USA related to sustainability related activities.
Prior to joining ABS, he was worked for another Classification Society as well as a Ship Design firm.
Stergios graduated from the University of Glasgow in the UK with a Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering. He also earned a Master of Science degree in Marine Engineering and a Master of Philosophy degree in Marine Technology from the University of Newcastle in the UK.
