Tim Wilkins serves as Managing Director of INTERTANKO, an Association that represents the interests of independent tanker owners worldwide, promoting safety and environmental sustainability, and communicating the tanker industry’s role, strategic importance and social value.

Since joining INTERTANKO in early 1999, Tim has acquired extensive technical, regulatory and political expertise representing the tanker industry at the IMO, within the European Union and in Asia where he served as Regional Manager for the region for over 13 years.

Tim has held several roles within the Association including Regional Manager Asia-Pacific, Country Manager for Greece, Italy, Cyprus, India and the Middle East and Secretary to INTERTANKO’s Executive Committee, Council and Hellenic Mediterranean, Asian Regional and European Panels.

As Secretary to INTERTANKO’s Environment Committee, he represented the tanker industry liaising with environmental organisations, national governmental organisations and international organisations such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). He coordinates INTERTANKO’s European activities, maintaining oversight for policy initiatives generated within the European Union.

More recently, as Deputy Managing Director, Tim worked on external strategic affairs and internal corporate administration.

Tim’s extensive expertise in the marine environment stems from his Honours Degree in Marine Biology and a postgraduate Masters in Marine Resource Management.
