Philip has nearly 30 years’ experience as an international dispute resolution/arbitration lawyer, focussing on complex, high-value energy and infrastructure projects, general commercial and technology work. He is a partner in the London office, and has significant experience in other jurisdictions, having lived and worked in the Middle East for over a decade and having acted as counsel or arbitrator in matters concerning the UK, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Spain, France, Romania, Turkey, Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa, Russia, Japan, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait, Chile, Hong Kong, Vietnam Singapore, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and the USA.
Philip is currently engaged in expanding the Clyde & Co Projects and Construction offering in Sub-Saharan Africa, and spends a significant amount of his time there.
Philip becomes involved early in clients’ developments and approaches the issues that arise commercially, devising strategies to avoid or resolve disputes. He has demonstrated strong skills in planning, implementing and managing the process to deliver those strategies; specially on the most difficult and commercially sensitive cases.
Philip is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and member of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators, and often takes appointments as an arbitrator.
