Phillip is the Medication Access Program Director for Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In this role, Dr. McCreary leverages all available manufacturer assistance programs (PAP, copay cards, etc.) to help indigent, uninsured, and underinsured patients gain access to needed medications. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy and a Master’s in Business Administration from Campbellsville University. He started his pharmacy career as the Director of Pharmacy at a rural hospital in Central Kentucky for several years before moving to Niger, West Africa for three and a half years to work in various pharmacy and educational roles, where he still works from time to time (most recently for the first half of 2022). He has been in his current role since May 2017. His passion for the underserved community has helped shape his career.
