Joined DNV in 2006 to primarily work on Maritime Labour Convention services and have since 2006 headed DNV’s Maritime Management Systems (ISM, ISPS and MLC, 2006) work.
From 1990 to 2006 employed by the Norwegian Maritime Directorate first as a Senior Executive Officer and from 1998 Assistant Director with responsibility for working and living conditions at sea.
Norwegian representative to the IMO MSC/MEPC Working Group on the Human element from 1999 to 2003.
Deputy member of the Norwegian ILO Committee from 1999 to 2006.
Norwegian representative and Head of delegation to the ILO on issues regarding seafarers’ and fishermen’s working and living condition from 1999 to 2006 and Norwegian delegate to the International Labour Conference which adopted the Maritime Labour Convention in 2006.
Member of the officer’s group for ILO’s work on the Maritime Labour Convention, Vice Chair of the Government Group for the Maritime Labour Convention at the International Labour Conference in 2006 and chair of several working groups and committees during the work on the Maritime Labour Convention.
Chair of the ILO’s work to improve security at sea and ensure facilitation for seafarers (resulting in the adoption of ILO Convention 185).
From May 2010 to June 2011 member of the EU’s Task Force on Maritime Employment and Competitiveness.
