James is the Global Head of Safety, Security and Continuity at the British Council which is the UK’s ‘soft power’ agency; supporting peace and prosperity by building connections, understanding and trust between the UK and people in other countries worldwide.
Prior to joining the British Council in 2020, James served in the Army for 23 years. He is a Chartered Security Professional and has a keen interest in geopolitics, crisis management and world affairs. He has led the British Council’s international crisis response function through several major global incidents ranging from environmental disasters, kidnap and ransom and major armed conflicts.
