Andrew De La Rosa
Independent Counsel at ICT Chambers
Speaker

Profile

Andrew De La Rosa is qualified as an English barrister and Cayman Islands attorney. He practices as independent counsel specialising in litigation and structuring concerning fiduciary relationships, in particular in the trust, estate, corporate and partnership spheres. He has long been recognised as a leading specialist in his field. Professional clients have described him as "awesome and absolutely compelling" and "charming and easy-going but with a deadly eye and known to get results.”

Andrew has been instructed as counsel in a number of the largest inheritance and trust disputes and restructurings of recent years. His practice is international and he has extensive experience of dealing with the laws of all of the principal English common law-based international financial centres as well as the civil law and Islamic law systems with which such centres interact.

In particular, Andrew is an acknowledged specialist in the inheritance, matrimonial property, fiduciary and wealth management issues that arise under Islamic law as it is applied in the major jurisdictions across the MENA and GCC regions and Asia. He has often advised on and acted as litigation counsel in cases relating to existing and proposed trust, succession planning and inheritance issues which relate to families from Islamic law jurisdictions. His connection with Middle Eastern and other Islamic law jurisdictions dates back to his undergraduate days.

He has also acted as a government consultant and adjunct professor of law and has been ranked as "an unsurpassed conference speaker."
