Derek works closely with business leaders to develop novel AI and algorithms that solve their thorniest problems. He applies expertise in data systems construction and business analytics to the resolution of previously unsolvable operational impediments. He brings industry experience from wearable robotics company Lumo Bodytech, acquired by Seismic, and from pedabyte-scale web tracking company Optimizely, acquired by Episerver. As part of his PhD research in electrical engineering, Derek collaborated with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory to develop a time microscope that allows scientists to capture waveform recordings at a resolution of quadrillionths of a second. Both literally and figuratively quick on his feet, he has performed with two Bay Area dance exhibition teams, the Swing Cats and Danse Libre, and also enjoys woodworking.
