Tamicka S. James is Head of Diversity and Inclusion for U.S. Commercial, Medical and Government Affairs (CMG) at Genentech, a member of the Roche group.Tamicka’s 24+ years in field sales, training, business and operations leadership, is evident as she brings a rigorous approach to delivering innovative solutions, while constructively challenging the status quo and anchoring to “The Art of the Possible.” A visionary and changemaker, her ability to confidently lead teams to expand their creativity, along with her enthusiasm for building strong relationships and advancing belonging, is foundational to unlocking the potential in others.Tamicka deeply understands the connection between business growth and employee retention, and as a member of the Genentech Diversity and Inclusion Board of Directors, she’s focused on designing and driving attraction and retention strategies as a foundation for how Genentech grows and operates system-wide.As part of the leadership with Genentech, she is changing the future of inclusion and belonging through a number ofnew and groundbreaking initiatives. For example, in 2022, Tamicka envisioned and facilitated the gLead(Genentech Leadership for Executive Advancement and Development) Executive Education Program in collaboration with Columbia University Business School. This pro-gram served platform to develop and strengthen the leadership skills and capabilities of senior underrepresented talent at Genentech.Responsible for leading the Diversity and Inclusion strategy for the U.S. Commercial, Medical and Government Affairs (CMG), a Genentech major organization with over 3,800+ employees, her team’s objective is to embed equity, belonging and a multicultural mindset into everyday decision making, people practices and business operations.Over the course of her career, Tamicka has led strategic business initiatives for a number ofleading healthcare organizations such as GlaxoSmithKline, Sanofi, and Abbott Laboratories.In addition to servingon the Diversity & Inclusion Board of Directors for Genentech, she has also served on the Board for the Healthcare Women’s Association and volunteers with various non-profit organizations that serve underrepresented communities.
