Anne Federle, who is the managing partner of the firm's Brussels office, is a leading member of the firm's International Automotive Group and has over 25 years of experience advising multinational clients, including a number of major automotive suppliers, in all areas of competition law.

Prior to joining Bird & Bird in 2010, Anne was a partner in the competition group of Linklaters in Brussels.

Anne has substantial experience in German, EU and international merger control, including a large number of complex Phase 2 cases before the EU and German competition authorities. She also advises on the competition law aspects of cooperation, distribution and license agreements as well as developing and implementing competition law compliance programmes.

Anne's automotive sector work includes obtaining merger control approval for over 30 M&A transactions in the car parts sector, representing a supplier in the EU wiring harness cartel investigation and advising various automotive suppliers in internal antitrust investigations. She also regularly advises automotive suppliers on the competition law aspects of development agreements, tooling agreements, and pay-to-play practices.

Anne is a member of the board of the German competition law association (Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht). She is regularly listed as a “frequently recommended” competition lawyer in the German directory JUVE and as a leading practitioner in The International Who's Who of Competition Lawyers & Economists. She was featured in Global Competition Review's 100 "Women in Antitrust" survey and was ranked as one of the leading female competition lawyers in Belgium in the Euromoney Guide to the World's Leading Women in Business Law.

She studied law at the universities of Passau, Freiburg i.Br. and Toulouse and obtained an LL.M in European Law from the KU Leuven (Belgium).


Anne's mother tongue is German and she is fluent in English and French.
