Francesca Richmond is a Partner in Baker McKenzie's London office, specialising in competition, compliance and regulatory enforcement matters. She is Baker McKenzie's Global Lead for Competition Litigation and also sits on Baker McKenzie's EMEA Compliance & Investigations steering committee. She was a member of the CLLS Competition Law Committee on implementation of the EU Damages Directive and named as a leading competition litigator in the 2019 Who’s Who Legal Future Leaders Survey. Francesca leads large scale multi-disciplinary investigations and follow on litigation involving multiple jurisdictions across a range sectors including technology, media and advertising, financial services manufacturing and consumer goods. For example, she currently is working with:
- one of the six oil and gas "supermajors" in formulating its strategy for managing collective litigation in the EU;
- a British multinational investment bank and financial services company on its options for managing litigation risk post Brexit and defence of collective claims arising in relation to alleged attempts to manipulate the FX market; and
- a social network and digital platform operator on human rights considerations relevant to setting its global policy for users on editorial, content and publications matters.
She has been seconded to clients including the BBC Trust, Barclays Bank and O2 as well as spending periods of time working in Baker McKenzie's offices in Chicago, Washington and Sydney in order to build experience on areas of law established in those jurisdictions that are more nascent in the EU - including collective actions and large scale investigations work.
