Annabelle Bruyndonckx (partner in the Brussels offce of Simmons & Simmons) is recognised as one of the leading Healthcare & Life Sciences lawyers in Belgium. She has been active for over 25 years in the life sciences sector. Her practice is deeply rooted in the EU regulatory framework, focusing on clinical trial/investigation agreements, promotion, and distribution of pharmaceuticals/medical devices and compliance. She also navigates public tender laws in healthcare, address challenges with borderline products (medicine-food/cosmetics/devices) & qualification of products, and tackle early market access issues. Over the last years She has broadened her expertise to support the HLS and MedTech sectors with the AI Act and digital health within the EU, ensuring technologies comply with the applicable regulations. Her work extends to advising on marketing, labelling, and advertising of foodstuffs and cosmetics, aligning products with EU regulatory standards. A significant part of her role involves coordinating multijurisdictional advice, ensuring a harmonized approach across different EU member states.

In addition to memberships in the European Food Law Association (EFLA), the European Pharmaceutical Law Association (EPLA), the Ethics Benelux Chapter of the Ethics Society, the Belgian Procurement Association (Club Marchés Publics) and Healixia, Annabelle presides the Healixia Regulatory Affairs’ Education Group, the new Healixia legal & compliance ethics Education Group and is a board member. Annabelle is Co-head of the global Simmons & Simmons Public Procurement Group & co-leads the firm’s HLS AI initiative and the S&S Digital Health group.
