Eva NyawiraPrincipal Officer - Portfolio Services at ATIDI
Profile
Eva Nyawira is a senior insurance, reinsurance, and risk professional with experience specializing in sovereign risk, debt sustainability, political risk insurance, and credit risk across Africa and other emerging markets. She currently serves as Principal Officer, Portfolio Services at the African Trade & Investment Development Insurance (ATIDI), a multilateral insurer, where she is involved in executive-level underwriting and risk decisions.
In her role, Eva oversees ATIDI’s insurance and reinsurance portfolio, which had gross exposure of over USD 8 billion at year-end 2025, and is deeply involved in the structuring of sovereign debt transactions and the assessment of sovereign fiscal stress, Eurobond market volatility, and debt restructuring processes.
Eva brings practical, transaction-level insight into how multilaterals and ECAs can support market stability through risk-sharing mechanisms, including during periods of restructuring and market dislocation. She has experience negotiating complex insurance and reinsurance contracts, developing policy wordings, and aligning underwriting decisions with evolving legal, regulatory, and accounting standards.
Prior to joining ATIDI, Eva worked at the World Bank Group (MIGA) in Washington, DC, where she managed global infrastructure and financial services portfolios and supported investment projects exposed to sovereign and sub-sovereign risk.
