Romanie Peters is a seasoned Company Lawyer with over 20 years of experience in the export insurance industry and export financing. As the Legal and Claims Coordinator at the Belgian Export Credit Agency, Credendo, Romanie has demonstrated expertise in analysing business and financial risks, handling complex restructuring cases, and actively recovering debt on a variety of borrowers. Romanie's extensive experience includes working with major Belgian corporates and international traders, as well as maintaining daily contact with both local and international bankers.

In addition to Romanie's role at the Belgian Export Credit Agency, Romanie has been the official representative of the ECA to the Paris Club for more than 14 years. This role has involved negotiating with sovereign states and authorities on debt management, with a deep understanding of IMF and World Bank policies. Romanie has successfully managed sovereign debt restructuring cases with countries such as Argentina, Cuba, Chad, Congo Republic, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Seychelles, Somalia, and Zambia. Notable achievements include negotiating the bilateral agreements for repayment with countries like Cuba, Chad and Congo Brazzaville.

Romanie is also an active board director and proud member of European Women on Boards.
