Yuichiro Akita

Senior General Manager of International and Strategic Policy at Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI), and President at The Berne Union

Yuichiro Akita is President of the Berne Union and Senior General Manager for International and Strategic Policy at NEXI. With over 20 years of experience in the export credit and political risk insurance field, he has led major initiatives in structured and trade finance across global infrastructure and industrial sectors.

He previously oversaw corporate planning and international relations at NEXI and served as a policy analyst at the Cabinet Secretariat of the Government of Japan, contributing to overseas infrastructure strategy. Prior to NEXI, he worked in overseas project finance at MUFG.

He holds an MBA from the University of Manchester, an MSc in Development Finance from SOAS, University of London, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Policy at National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo.
