Zeynep Ersel is the Global Lead for Mobilization and Correspondent Banking in the Trade and Supply Chain Finance Department at IFC. Zeynep is responsible for developing and managing relationships with global and regional correspondent banks, insurance companies, and other investor partners. Her role includes initiating and fostering the mobilization of trade and supply chain products and developing innovative risk distribution structures in coordination with syndications and other industry departments.
Before her current position, Zeynep held several roles in the Trade and Supply Chain Department, including Regional Lead for Latin America and the Caribbean, Regional Lead for Western Europe and MENA, Global Lead for Confirming Bank Relationships, Operational Head of Supply Chain Finance Business and Portfolio Programs, and Global Marketing Officer. Prior to joining the IFC, Zeynep worked at the World Bank on trade and transport facilitation and contributed to the creation of the multi-agency collaborative Integrated Framework Studies on trade facilitation.
Zeynep joined the IFC in 2005 to work on the newly created Global Trade Finance Program, where they worked on the issuance of the first GTFP guarantee and have since remained dedicated to trade finance in emerging markets. Zeynep holds an MA in Political Science/International Business from NYU and an MBA from Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School.
