Oliver has been a full-time accredited mediator for ten years, specialising in private wealth, family business and intergenerational disputes, with a particular focus on farms and landed estates. He is ranked by Chambers UK, Chambers High Net Worth and The Legal 500, and practises nationwide.

A former solicitor, he trained at Allen & Overy in London before spending over ten years at Wrigleys in Leeds, where he was a partner in the private client team. He is a full member of STEP (TEP) and holds STEP's Advanced Certificate in Family Business Advising. He regularly mediates rural disputes involving trust, tax, company, partnership, property, development, valuation, inheritance and succession issues.

Oliver trained in mediation at CEDR and at Regent's School of Psychology and Psychotherapy, and uses a psychotherapeutic approach to bring an understanding of family dynamics to the process. He works with farming, estate and business families to agree succession plans before conflict and costs escalate into litigation.

He recently set up The Family Dialogue Practice with colleague and fellow mediator Julia Burns to help families navigate challenging periods of disagreement and change.
