Christian Szautner serves as the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) of TIFF Advisory Services, LLC (TIFF), an SEC-registered investment adviser offering custom Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) advice and investment solutions (including private markets, hedge funds and a mutual fund) to nonprofit organizations and other institutional clients. He is responsible for all regulatory and compliance matters at TIFF, including the design, implementation and testing of the compliance programs of TIFF’s two investment advisers and its mutual fund, and serves as the key liaison with regulatory agencies. He also provides critical investment and business legal support to TIFF and serves as Chief Legal Officer of TIFF’s mutual fund. TIFF is a multi-manager firm and Christian designed and implemented TIFF’s operational and compliance due diligence program for over 100 global third-party managers (including long-only, hedge fund, and private equity managers) and currently co-heads that program, conducting regular detailed manager meetings, reviews and risk assessments. Prior to joining TIFF as CCO in 2008, Christian was a partner in the Philadelphia office of Ballard Spahr, LLP, an Am Law 100 firm, where he practiced investment management law. He holds a B.A. cum laude from The Pennsylvania State University and a J.D. cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania.
