Yulia A. Solomakhina’s practice focuses on corporate and financial transactions, particularly mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and various other cross-border transactions in the emerging markets. Yulia’s experience extends beyond transactional work into regulatory matters, including sanctions and export controls, antitrust and foreign strategic investment law matters, as well as crisis management and special situations.

Yulia joined the firm in 2002, became a partner in 2011 and has worked across three offices of the firm, focusing on emerging markets. Since February 24, 2022, Yulia has advised many prominent businesses in planning and implementing their sanctions-driven restructurings and exits from Russia while navigating a constantly changing sanctions environment. She is a co-author of Cleary’s Trade Watch, providing regular updates on sanctions developments.
