Profile
Andrew Satterlee, PhD, is an Assistant Professor and Founding Director of the Screening Live Cancer Explants Program and Core Facility based within Eshelman Innovation, an academic innovation institute at UNC focused on translating groundbreaking ideas toward patients. Dr. Satterlee is himself a pediatric brain cancer survivor whose rare, heterogeneous tumor lacked a clear treatment strategy. Today, his program focuses on developing functional precision medicine models that directly treat living patient tumor tissues outside the body just after they have been removed in the operating room to guide drug development and clinical decision-making.
